Leadenhall Capital Partners LLP is a London based investment manager wholly focused on investing in insurance linked investments portfolios for institutional investors. Established in 2008, Leadenhall is a joint venture between an international underwriter of insurance and reinsurance, MS Amlin, and a highly experienced management team. MS Amlin, headquartered in the UK, is a major London market participant with a presence at Lloyd’s of London and offices in key reinsurance hubs such as Bermuda, Zurich, Singapore, US, and Tokyo.
Leadenhall manages both non-life and life insurance linked investment strategies. Through its non-life investment strategies Leadenhall offers investors access to pure re/insurance risk, which have exposure to property losses from extreme natural catastrophes (e.g. major hurricanes and earthquakes) and other non-life insurable risks (e.g. marine risk, terror, other specialty products). Through Leadenhall life strategies, investors can access returns from the life insurance linked asset class, which include mortality, longevity, morbidity & lapse risks.
The Leadenhall team has significant insurance capital markets experience gained at Swiss Re, Aon Benfield Securities & Guy Carpenter, with Founding Partners John Wells & Luca Albertini having a combined experience of over 55 years in the industry.

John Wells has over 30 years of capital markets experience. He was one of the founding members of Swiss Re Financial Products from 2000 to 2005 which grew from 2 people to a very profitable organization employing 500 over three years with a balance sheet of $15B. John spent almost 20 years as an investment banker with the NatWest Group in London and Tokyo.

Luca Albertini has extensive experience in both banking and insurance having spent time at the securitisation units of Citicorp, GE Capital (including an assignment within GE’s European reinsurance business) and Credit Suisse First Boston. From 2003 Luca headed the European Insurance Linked Securities team of Swiss Re Capital Markets, where he was responsible for developing one of the largest and most successful ILS teams in Europe.
Chief Financial Officer & Chief Operating Officer (Managing Partner)
Chris trained as a Chartered Accountant and specialised in Financial Services Audit at PWC, before leaving practice to become Head of Finance - Specialised & Structured Finance at Greenwich NatWest. He left in 2000 to set up the finance function at Swiss Re Financial Products, designing and implementing the financial control environment of the new Capital Markets function.
Head of Business Development (Managing Partner)
Lorenzo has over 20 years of capital markets and reinsurance broking experience (both traditional and non-traditional) having worked at Aon Re, Banca Popolare di Milano London Branch and Aon Benfield Securities where he looked at the complete spectrum of alternative methodologies of risk transfer, risk financing and the convergence of the reinsurance and capital markets.
Lorenzo, a Director of Aon Benfield Securities for five years, led the sourcing, structuring, marketing and distribution of various projects and transactions on securitisation of insurance assets such as catastrophe bonds, catastrophe swaps, sidecars and private placements. He holds a Master's Degree in Finance from the University of London.
Chief Underwriting Officer (Managing Partner)
Jillian has over 23 years experience in catastrophe modelling, actuarial pricing and consulting in the insurance/reinsurance sector. Prior to joining Leadenhall Capital Partners she was Senior Vice President at Instrat, the modelling and actuarial department of Guy Carpenter, specialising in Capital Markets, Retro, Property and Marine classes. Among other things she has managed projects in ILS, Retro and overseen the analysis and development for new Property & Casualty business opportunities. Prior to Guy Carpenter, Jillian worked at Fidelity Investment as Performance Measurement Analyst.
Deputy Chief Investment Officer (Managing Partner)
Dan joined Leadenhall in 2009 and manages the life and mortality linked investments in the strategies managed by Leadenhall. Dan is a Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries, specialising in Life Insurance. He qualified at Tillinghast where he became a Consultant, advising various large international and UK life insurers on a wide range of topics including fund restructuring. He joined Swiss Re Capital Markets in 2007 where he worked pricing and structuring Cat Mortality, XXX, Longevity and Embedded Value transactions.
Head of Non-Life Portfolio Management (Managing Partner)
Ben joined Leadenhall Capital Partners in August 2013 to work within the non-life investments underwriting team. He previously worked in the traditional property treaty market for seven years, most recently with the Antares syndicate for three and a half years. In addition, he holds a degree Business & Financial Services and is ACII qualified.

Since graduating in 2007 from Brunel University, Kunal has gained experience in the fields of both banking and investment management whilst working as a middle office analyst for both BNP Paribas and Solent Capital.
Senior Portfolio Manager - Head of Life Investments (Partner)
Craig joined the Life Investments team at Leadenhall Capital Partners in 2015, after having spent six years with Swiss Re in London. Craig is experienced in a range of actuarial roles, including the origination of capital solutions for UK life insurers and costing of longevity transactions. Whilst at Swiss Re Craig also qualified as a Fellow of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries in 2012 specialising in life insurance. Craig graduated from Heriot Watt University with First Class Honours in Actuarial Science and completed a year long exchange in Actuarial Studies at the University of Melbourne.
Portfolio manager - Non-Life Investments
Anthony joined Leadenhall Capital Partners in 2017 from Sompo International (formerly Endurance) where he held the position of underwriter, focusing on specialty and reinsurance classes. Anthony began his career in the (re)insurance industry in 2009 at Montpelier Syndicate in London, initially concentrating on property retrocession and London market treaty reinsurance before broadening to specialty classes including engineering, workers’ comp cat and nuclear. He also went on to manage larger insurance accounts written on a delegated basis. Anthony graduated from Imperial College London with a BSc in Physics, and is ACII qualified.
Senior Analyst - Non-Life Investments
Sam joined Leadenhall Capital Partners in 2018 as a Senior Analyst on the non-life team having spent eight years in the traditional reinsurance market, with a focus on North American Property Treaty. Having graduated from the University of Leeds in 2009, he worked as a senior broker with BMS Group for four years, before moving to Markel International as an Underwriter. Sam is ACII qualified.
Portfolio Analyst - Non-Life Investments
Adrian joined the Non-Life investments team at Leadenhall Capital Partners in March 2017. Adrian has worked within the (re)insurance industry since 2008, starting in catastrophe modelling function at Willis Re, followed by 4 years as a Product Manager within the model development team at RMS. Adrian has a solid background in natural hazards, with an MSc in Flood Engineering and BSc in Meteorology.
Analyst - Non-Life Investments
George joined Leadenhall Capital Partners in 2018, prior to joining he spent three years at SCOR Global P&C in catastrophe modelling, and supported the reinsurer’s Lloyd’s of London based operations. George has an excellent background in catastrophe risk, holding the Certified Catastrophe Risk Analyst (CCRA) designation and graduated from the University of Cambridge with a BA in Geography.
Senior Portfolio Manager - Head of Asset Based Investments
Simon joined Leadenhall in 2012 supporting both the Non-Life and Life portfolio management functions, having previously worked as a terrorism broker at Willis and then as an actuarial technician at Friends Life. He qualified as a Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries in 2015, specialising in life insurance, and now concentrates exclusively on the Life strategies. He is a graduate of The University of Bath where he gained a BSc in Business Administration, which included a placement at Barclays Global Investors (later acquired by BlackRock).
Portfolio Analyst – Life and Alternative Credit
Tom joined the life investments team at Leadenhall Capital Partners in October 2017 straight out of University, having graduated with First Class Honours in Economics & Finance from Exeter he is now a current CFA Level II Candidate.
Kelvin is a CFA® charterholder and a Chartered Global Management Accountant (CGMA®). A graduate of the University of Cape Town; Kelvin has over 10 years of finance experience across fund management and investment banking.
A qualified UK solicitor, Chris trained at Slaughter and May and qualified into the corporate team there. Chris joined Leadenhall Capital Partners from Debevoise & Plimpton LLP, where he was an associate in the London office, specialising in M&A and Private Equity transactions and advising investment management clients. Chris is a graduate of the University of Oxford.
Catherine joined Leadenhall Capital Partners in April 2017 after working as a paralegal in the Finance team at Herbert Smith Freehills LLP. She graduated from the University of Oxford in 2014.
Business Development – Managing Director (based in USA office)
Brian has over 11 years of insurance and capital markets experience having worked at GE Capital Markets, where he provided capital markets solutions for GE Frankona Re and Genworth Financial, and most recently as a Director at Swiss Re Capital Markets (London, UK) where he led the origination and structuring of securitisation of life insurance risks and assets in the form of catastrophe bonds, capital relief and financing solutions and embedded value transactions in Europe.
Business Development Associate
Hamza joined Leadenhall with experience in both Insurance and Trading. Most recently he was the Property Pricing Actuary and Cat Modeller in the Analytics team of Probitas Syndicate 1492. He spent 3 years at KPMG Risk Consulting where he worked on audits and reserve reviews across the insurance market. He also brings with him experience at Vitol, the world’s largest physical crude traders, where he was a Commercial Analyst hedging global oil trades. Hamza is a Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries and has a MEng in Chemical Engineering from Cambridge University.

Paul joined Leadenhall Capital Partners after more than 5 years at Aon Benfield, working in the catastrophe management team, with a main focus on European reinsurance treaty risks. Paul graduated from Newcastle University with a BSc in Physical Geography.
Business Development Senior Analyst
Joel joined Leadenhall in 2015 and worked for 3 years within the Non-Life Portfolio Management team before joining the Business Development team from 2019. While in the Non-Life Portfolio Management team Joel specialised in private placement and derivative (ILWs) trading. Joel has worked within the (re)insurance industry since 2011 having previously worked for over 4 years at Markel International in the Actuarial team focusing on both (re)insurance pricing and capital optimisation. In addition Joel has worked in Econometrics at Lloyd’s Banking Group and holds a Masters in Financial Mathematics from Leeds University as well as a BSc in Mathematics from the University of Bath.
Operations Systems Manager
Tayo joined Leadenhall Capital Partners as an Associate in April 2013, providing operations, accounting & finance support. Prior to joining Leadenhall, Tayo established himself within the operations department at MetLife. A graduate from the University of Surrey, he brings strong technological & analytical skills and experience.
Michael has a total of over 18 years Middle Office and Operations experience. He gained 8 years’ experience in Investment Banking Middle Office, working at HSBC, UBS and Dresdner, as Equity, Fixed income and Derivative trade support. Since 2006, Michael has worked for the asset managers RAB Capital and Sir Chris Hohn’s TCI – The Children’s Investment Fund, where he spent 7 years as a Senior Treasury and Middle Office Analyst, covering a wide array of financial products. Michael holds the IAQ, SFA and IMC investment qualifications.
Fund Operations Analyst
Amee joined Leadenhall Capital Partners in December 2017 adding several years of finance middle office/back office experience to the team . She graduated from the University of Warwick with a MEng in Mechanical Engineering in 2013 and brings a strong numerical and analytical skill set.
